Nina_Ricci

Marie Adelaide Nielli, born in 1883 in Turin, she made as child hats and decorated these with miniature accessories. In the 20 th century she became one of the most important fashion designers of the world. She began as a manual labourer before she started as a designer.

When she was eighteen years old she married Louis Ricci a jeweller, origin from the Florance They moved to Monte Carlo and later to Paris, she became a designer here as wel. In 1905 their son Robert was born. When she became internationally famous in 1932, she decided to open a Haute Couturehouse with Robert. Not to long before the beginning of WW2 the vogue house consisted out of three buildings counting 11 stories at the Rue des Capucines. Her son adviced her too let young vogue designers assist her. In 1970, she died. Shortly after the second world war Robert took over the house.

He introduced perfumes as a guarantee for the uncertain financial circumstances in the vogue world. It fitted him well, because he was in fact a romantic person with a sensitive nose. The family lalique where close with the Ricci family and designed the bottles for Roberts perfumes. There has been a time that Lalique only worked for the family Ricci and had no other customers.

Robert occupied himself with each aspect of his perfumes, he always knew exactly what he wanted. His first perfume;coeur-joie was made in 1946 and came in a hartshaped bottle designed by Marc Lalique. In 1948 Francis Fabron introduced "L air du temps", Fabron worked for a large company named Roure-Bertrand-Dupont (later Givaudan Roure.

The bottle for this perfume was also a design by Marc Lalique , and became a symbol of love and tenderness because of its sunshaped cristall body and a picture of a dove imprinted on the capsule, after its introduction in 1951 there where made several variations of the bottle. In the following years there appeared more parfumes under his name such as farouche, fleur the fleur, deci dela, nina(dedicated to his mother). He made Nina as a example of the older perfumetraditions and as a protest against modern perfumes like obsession wich he detested.

He made a perfume for the older woman at the age of 35 to 40 years, in contrast to l air du temps wich was a fragrance for the younger woman. Robert was planning to produce a fragrance like this for quite a while when a perfumer from Grasse came up with the exact fragrance that robert was looking for, again Marc-Claude Lalique designed the bottle this time shaped like a folded dress. The perfume became an enormous success. On the age of 83 august the eight 1988 Robert Ricci died and Perfumes Nina Ricci was managed by the love of his life Gilles Fuchs overtime it went to Sanofi and in 1997 the Spanish concern Puig tookover the company.
